Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very young how to overcome of her difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. Songs were written by her before she could write and read. In 8 years, she was playing her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the that same the year that Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. As a student in high school She made her mark locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to perform on his show syndicated by him in the years prior to this. Parton was hired in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You for Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. The first time in 1974.
